Make 2008 Your Best Year Ever!
Dec 30th, 2007 by ptolar
What are your dreams for the next year? Was 2007 a year of success and abundance for you? Did you learn and grow and create what you truly want in your life?
The beginning of the year is an excellent time to look back over the past 12 months and plan for the next year. This can be a very powerful exercise if you are willing to be honest about what you didn’t accomplish and why. Take the time to learn from your experiences - what worked well and moved you forward? How can you expand your efforts in these areas? What did not work? Where did you get stuck and why? What could you do differently that will create what you want in your life and business? You will then want to use what you have learned to create your plan for the next 12 months.
What are you going to do to create a more of what you want in your life in the next 12 months? A favorite quote of mine is “if you want what you have never had you must do what you have never done”. What are your dreams? Are they big enough to move you out of your comfort zone? Are you willing to do what you have never done before?
Here is an exercise that I recommend to my coaching clients that will help you increase your clarity and focus and move you forward much faster in reaching the goals you set for 2008. Take out a piece of paper and create a vision of your perfect life one year in the future. Write it in present tense as if you are already there. What does it feel like? Who do you share it with? Where are you living and what material possessions do you own? This exercise is something you should have fun with - you should feel great when you are finished because you can have that life! Now use another sheet of paper and make a list of the major goals that you will accomplish to create your perfect life. Think about each of them and take the time to write a simple action plan for each of these goals. How can you build on what worked for you in the past 12 months. If something hasn’t worked try a new approach. Taking small steps daily can move you very quickly toward your goals.
You are ready to start creating your dream life! I suggest that you post these goals and action plan where you can see them every day. Put your attention on what you want in your life and take the action needed to create it!

I enjoyed your article. I have a done the exercise you suggested and it really does work.
I love the exercise. The hard thing for me is to keep on feeling this every day….sometimes you forget about it and maybe a month will go by. But it is the correct approach to goal setting and i agree with you.
Thanks,
Nick
